Canopy Waterproofing – Remuera
A group of shops in Remuera dealing with water leaks from a canopy over their front of their area, causing damage inside the shops.
The leaking canopy was affecting multiple shops, demanding urgent attention to prevent further damage.
To fix the issue, The Waterproofer suggested overlaying the existing membrane with TPO, adding TPO weldable aluminium drip edge around the perimeter for better waterproofing. Safety measures were also taken to protect the edge, and to shield the road from the work undertaken.
1. Assessment and Prep: The canopy was assessed, and safety measures were put in place.
2. Perimeter Edge Enhancement: The perimeter edge nib, only 40mm high, was heightened, and TPO-coated aluminum flashing was installed around the canopy perimeter for extra protection. The membrane was welded onto this flashing for a continuous system.
3. Overlay with TPO: TPO membrane was overlaid onto the existing membrane, glued, and mechanically fastened under the laps over the whole area.
4. Quality Check: Stringent checks were conducted to ensure effectiveness.
5. Pourable Pockets: We reinstated the signs for the hospice shop onto the new membrane using TPO pourable pockets around the penetrations.
